2D vs 3D shapes
Do you know what the difference is between a square and a cube?
A square is a flat two dimensional shape. A cube is a three dimensional square. A cube can be picked up and felt on all sides. Just like the picture above, the floor is a flat two dimensional square. You can only "touch" the top of it. The cube is three dimensional shape. It can be picked up and touched on all six sides of it.
Most of the time when we draw, we draw in 2D (two dimensions). It's hard to learn how to draw in 3D. That means instead of drawing a flat square, you would draw all of the sides of the cube cube. It's a whole different way of drawing!
Let's review 2D shapes
Get a piece of paper and draw these shapes as you learn about them on the video.
Let's learn how to draw shapes in 3D
Now get a new piece of paper and let's learn how to draw those same shapes in 3D instead of 2D!
