Fantasy Plants
Challenge 1: We are going to use our imaginations to create a fantasy plant. Draw your ideas in your sketchbook.
Rule #1: Your plant has to look different than a "normal" plant. You can use images to help you get started, but it is not allowed to look like a real plant when you are finished.

Part of your practicing for this sculpture is that you have to think about all of the sides of your plant. When you sketch your ideas, you need to sketch the front and the back of your plant.
Challenge 2: Using Sculpey Clay, you will create your fantasy plant as a pencil topper.
1. Get a brand new pencil to attach your plant to the top.
2. Be careful not to make it too thick, it can crack easily. Try to make sure only the eraser is covered, don't let the clay attach to the metal part of the pencil, it could crack.
3. When it's complete, we will bake it in the Toaster Oven. Bake at 275 °F (130 °C) for 20 minutes per 1/4 in (6 mm) thickness.
