Georgia O'Keefe Poppies and Skulls
O'Keefe is one of my favorite artists. She's really popular because of her HUGE flower paintings, and also paintings of skulls. Can you make a huge flower or skull and color it BLENDING colors as you go? You can look up an image to look at, find a flower outside to study, or make up one! I can't wait to see your final work!
November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986
Born near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, O'Keeffe first came to the attention of the New York art community in 1916. She made large-format paintings of enlarged blossoms, presenting them close up as if seen through a magnifying lens, and New York buildings, most of which date from the same decade. Beginning in 1929, when she began working part of the year in Northern New Mexico—which she made her permanent home in 1949—O’Keeffe depicted subjects specific to that area. O'Keeffe has been recognized as the Mother of American Modernism |

Monster Blob
Can you create a blob of paint and use your imagination to make it into a monster, animal, robot or something else?
This is something your Kindergartners did last fall. Everyone loved it so much, you might want to see if they can be the teacher and teach you how to make these.

Create a sculpture using paper towel roll! Before you create your sculpture, watch the video with Julia and Grover about what pattern is. Your challenge is to use pattern on your sculpture. Feel free to share your results!
Try out this Magical Appearing Pictures! This is Resist Art, an image or design is created on paper first and then, a layer of color is applied to the paper, revealing the first design. You can use oil pastel or crayon to paper and paint on top of the oil pastel design with watercolor. The oil from the pastel will resist the paint. It is an awesome magical act! Share your results! I love to teach my Kindergarteners about the beautiful rainforest birds. We have fun dancing to a Rio song and then we paint a green background and make awesome, colorful, birds out of construction paper. Try it out and send me a pic. I'd love to see what you come up with!
