Henri Rousseau
Henri Julien Félix Rousseau was from France. He was born in May, 1844 and died September 2, 1910. He was a French post-impressionist painter, in Primitive manner. He started painting seriously in his early forties; by age 49, he retired from his job to work on his art full-time. Ridiculed during his lifetime by critics, he came to be recognized as a self-taught genius whose works are of high artistic quality.
Many times Rousseau would paint his dreams. This might have added to his perspective being off. Our brains are not able to create perfect perspective like we can see when we draw or paint something while looking at it. We tend to enlarge things, or make them smaller than when they are real. This is how Rousseau worked.
