Snowmen At Night
Construction paper crayons
Week 1: Experiment with the construction paper crayons. You might FEEL that these crayons are much "softer" than regular crayons. Try the different colors on different colors of construction paper. You will see that the construction paper crayons are brighter. But, BE CAREFUL.... the construction paper crayons will break easier too (because they ARE softer). You can make your quick experiment paper into something quick and fun like a string of lights.
Week 2: We're going to make a snowman at night. It would work the best with a dark colored piece of construction paper and construction paper crayons. But, if you have oil pastels or chalk pastels, those would be awesome too. Regular crayons might work too.... what ever you have, try it out. Did you know that when you look at things your eye can see them only because of highlights (from sun or lights) and shades. Isn't that cool... it's hard to really grasp that. But, when you draw "Shades" of snow.... your eye actually sees BLUE, not black!!! Think about it.... snow is made of water, right? When we draw water, we usually draw it blue. So, when we color snow's shade.... we should use blue. So, you will need to pencil out on your paper what you are thinking of having your snowman do. You might want to practice drawing a snowman first! (see video). Draw out your snowman and what they might be doing. If you want them to be still, that's fine too. You can add a moon to your picture if you would like too. Remember, if you draw snowflakes... there are NOT two snowflakes that are the same! Every single one is different! It's amazing!
